Historical archives show how historical narratives of the war are produced, curated and often instrumentalised to serve the dominant political parties’  ideological interests. “Muktijuddho-Alaap” is a critical consensus of collective resistance through narrative discourse. It claims back counter-hegemonic discourses of the silenced women, peasants, workers, subalterns, and the alternative history of politics during the liberation war. 

This session welcomed participants to reconstruct the present politics of dominant history, Arifuzzaman Tuhin discussed the mainstream narratives to answer how the Liberation War was never just a leader-centric story. Women, farmers, workers, Indigenous communities, and countless local resistances shaped the people’s struggle but remain sidelined in official accounts. The conversation emphasized the importance of Subaltern Studies, class perspective, and leftist politics rooted in popular resistance. Drawing lessons from 1971, it reminded attendees that community-backed guerrilla efforts were central to the war, proving that history’s margins often hold the real story of resistance.
