Cultivating a Living Architecture of Resistance
Centre for Critical Discourse is a research institute dedicated to fostering alternative perspectives and scholarly dialogue in pedagogy. We try to dismantle the dominant school of thought and create an alternative discourse. Our work is not merely a collection of studies; it is an initiative to dismantle the repressive dominant discourse. We do not have the conventional "Vision," "Mission," or "Goals." Instead we operate with a Living Architecture of Resistance through the declaration, manifesto, provocations, and ground of struggle.
Our Declaration states why we need to foster an alternative perspective and dismantle conventional pedagogical norms. Our Manifesto voices our call to action on decolonizing the structures of knowledge, utilizing theories in praxis. Our Provocations/ Thesis/ Theoretical Interventions explain the foundations to bridge theory and praxis, challenge power structures, unveil hidden control mechanisms, investigate the contemporary dialectical materialism including the degree of feudalism and capitalism of our society. Our ground of struggle defines the critical domains of engagement, informed by the shifting global order as it transcends national boundaries.

Vision Declaration

As our Foundational Stance, we declare that the current pedagogical landscape is not neutral; it is a manifestation of a repressive structure, peripheral, semi-feudal and neoliberal hegemony designed to maintain the 'culture of silence.' We refuse to participate in a ‘banking model of education,’ a term coined by the Brazilian marxist philosopher Paulo Freire in his 1970 masterpiece, ‘Pedagogy of the Oppressed’, that serves only to maintain the global treadmill of production and social stagnation.

The Centre for Critical Discourse (CCD) stands as a pedagogical intervention against the epistemic violence of colonial knowledge and the dominant schools of thought. We exist to foster an alternative discourse, to hegemony the narratives-discourses emerging from the margins, and to claim the ground back for the oppressed forces of organic intellectual silenced by power structures. Our presence is a scholarly indictment of the status quo and a commitment to the transformative pursuit of a decolonized society of justice and communities.

Mission Manifesto

The Praxis of Resistance

We manifest as a progressive intellectual research hub to ensure our research outputs contribute to real-world transformation. We employ critical methods with a strong emphasis on action research. Our methods are participatory, transformative, and express solidarity with oppressed  communities. The Centre for Critical Discourse (CCD) exists to identify problems and co-develop struggles with the people. In alignment with our action research methods, our intersection of theory and praxis is enacted within participatory workshops, public discourse analysis, grassroot activisms, and the action oriented synthesis of radical art, film, and writings.

The articulation of counter-hegemonic discourses serves as a foundation for emancipatory knowledge. By bridging contemporary critiques with transformative action, this framework enacts meaningful change, empowering communities to not only challenge existing structures but to radically reimagine them.

Objectives Provocations

The Intentional bridge between the gap of theory and praxis.

  1. Dismantling the Colonized Mind

We disrupt the "sacred" status of colonial institutions and knowledge systems. How can we resist the invisible imperialist mechanisms of control and domination that feel "natural" or "neutral"?
  2. Challenging the Profit Industrial Complex

We challenge the "inevitability" of the state and market. Can we sustain an ecological and social dialogue that prioritizes human dignity over the profit-driven imperatives of the contemporary world?
  3. The Subaltern Agency

We provoke a "Decentreing" of elite-led activism. What happens to the "dominant school of thought" when protests are engineered not from the center, but from the raw, unrefined expertise of the oppressed in the margins?
  4. Rethinking Social Evolution

We challenge the narrative of "progress" in societies where capitalist exploitation masks deep-seated feudal oppression. How do we break the cycle of social stagnation that feeds on this hybrid tyranny?
  5. The Global Mirror

We challenge the isolation of political struggles. How does a comparative look across cultures reveal that the "local" struggle is actually a cog in the "Global Treadmill of Production"?
  6. The End of Oppressive Structures

We provoke an inquiry into the current world systems. If the world systems are built on punishment and profit-driven imperatives, what radical structures can organize the masses and make them obsolete?
  7. The Synthesis of Political Fragmentation

We challenge the traditional engineering and fragmentation of politics. How can we dismantle the dominant discourse of oppression within the partisan power structures to foster a truly alternative
